What is ABA?

“ABA is a well-developed scientific discipline among the helping professions that focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation of social and other environmental modifications to produce meaningful changes in human behavior. ABA includes the use of direct observation, measurement, and functional analysis of the relations between environment and behavior. ABA uses changes in environmental events, including antecedent stimuli and consequences to produce practical and significant changes in behavior” (BACB, 2016).

Who is eligible for ABA services?

ABA treatment is based on medical necessity and is beneficial for patients regardless of age, diagnosis or setting.

Who is on the treatment team?

  • BCBA® Clinical Program Director

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®)

  • Behavior Analysis Trainee*

  • Registered Behavior Technician™ (RBT ™)

  • Parent/Guardian/Caregiver

  • Patient

What does the assessment for ABA look like?

  • Assessment includes indirect (parent/patient interviews, surveys, observations) and direct (1:1 testing administration) components.

  • Assessments may include any combination of the following:

    • VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment and Placement Program)

    • ABLLS-R (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills)

    • AFLS (Assessment of Functional Living Skills)

    • FBA (Functional Behavior Assessment)

    • FA (Functional Analysis)

    • PEAK (PEAK Relational Training System)

    • Vineland-3

How are ABA programs supervised? 

All ABA programs include a Board Certified Behavior Analyst®; the BCBA® supervises clinical programming and RBT™ service delivery.

Do you have a current waitlist?

Yes, wait time varies depending on location, time of service provision and setting type (clinic vs. home).

Is ABA a cure?

It is impossible to guarantee any specific results regarding patient treatment. However, the team continuously monitors patient data and progress and will adjust treatment protocols and environmental variables as needed.
